Tigers make statement, sweep (RV) Lindsey Wilson at home

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Tigers took the Battle of Highway 55 in roaring fashion Thursday night, securing a sweep over (RV) Lindsey Wilson in front of a packed home crowd at Gosser Gym. Following the football team's thrilling victory last Saturday, the volleyball squad completed the Highway 55 sweep with a dominant performance.

The Tigers took the Battle of Highway 55 in roaring fashion Thursday night, securing a sweep over (RV) Lindsey Wilson in front of a packed home crowd at Gosser Gym. Following the football team's thrilling victory last Saturday, the volleyball squad completed the Highway 55 sweep with a dominant performance.

In the first set, the Blue Raiders struck first, but Campbellsville quickly answered. Elif Akcivi fueled the offense early, and after Lindsey Wilson tied it 6-6, the Tigers began to pull away. Leading 15-10, Maddie Pennington delivered a 5-0 serving run, including an ace, to extend the lead to 20-10. A final kill from Angi Gstach closed out the set 25–15.

In the second set, Lindsey Wilson again opened the scoring, but Akcivi immediately responded with a kill. With the score tied 5-5, Elif Akcivi stepped back to serve and ignited an 8-0 run, featuring one of her three aces and a block from Sophie Hill, forcing a Blue Raider timeout at 13-5. Running on all cylinders, Angi Gstach put the finishing touch on the set with a kill, giving Campbellsville the 25–16 victory.

In the third set, Lindsey Wilson jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, but the Tigers quickly rallied with kills from the pins. The score remained tight until, tied at 8-8, Jana Krstić served a 4-0 run, including an ace to put Campbellsville ahead 12-8. Despite a brief push from the Blue Raiders, Campbellsville regrouped, and Akcivi sealed the sweep with a final kill for a 25–21 win.

Akcivi (13 kills) and Gstach (10 kills) led the efficient offense, supported by Sophie Hill's six kills on .500 hitting. Kati Vest distributed 32 assists, while Maddie Pennington anchored the defense with 13 digs.
