Campbellsville kicked off Senior Day with an explosion.
Ashton Auker fielded the opening kickoff, found a seam, and raced 98 yards to the endzone, putting the Tigers up 7-0 just 13 seconds into the game.
The defense immediately fed off the energy. On Bethel's first drive, defensive lineman
Ahmaury Calhoun stormed into the backfield for a strip-sack, and Camryn Darden pounced on the loose ball. This set up a short 44-yard drive, which
Jett Engle capped by finding Troy Oliver for an 18-yard touchdown, making it 14-0. The offense struck again on its next possession when Coach Russell dialed up a reverse flea-flicker, and Engle found a wide-open
Tre' Bass for a 40-yard touchdown. A 32-yard field goal from
Colin Fratus at the end of the quarter put the Tigers up 24-0.
The second quarter was defined by the Tigers' defensive dominance. After a 60-yard touchdown run by
Tre' Bass extended the lead to 31-0, the defense went to work.
Ellis Reed and
Ahmaury Calhoun both registered sacks on Bethel's ensuing possessions. The half was punctuated by a crucial goal-line stand, as Bethel was turned away on 4th-and-goal when
Allen Parrish burst through for a seven-yard sack.
Following a scoreless third quarter, Bethel finally got on the board with a 47-yard field goal. Campbellsville answered back when backup quarterback
Trenton Cutwright rolled out and found
Roland Hazard Jr. deep for a 34-yard touchdown, pushing the lead to 38-3. Bethel would find the endzone late, but the extra point was blocked by
Eli Toviessi. On the Wildcats' final drive,
Jermaine Tyler Jr. read the quarterback perfectly from his zone coverage, grabbing his first career interception to seal the 38-9 victory.
