Lady Tigers take down Blue Raiders in last regular-season game

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.- The #4 Lady Tigers hosted the Battle of Highway 55 against the Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raiders on Thursday for the last regular season game. After keeping a tight scoreboard throughout the game, the Lady Tigers took the victory over the Blue Raiders, 79-68.

The game saw little action in the opening minutes of the game. An exchange of free throws made the first points of the game, struggling to score from the field. Both teams elevated their offensive strikes from beyond the arc, scoring three-pointer after three-pointer. The Blue Raiders remained one possession ahead of the Lady Tigers, until a steal by Whitney Hay resulted in a Paige Serafini jumper, earning Campbellsville the lead halfway through the first quarter. Lindsey Wilson reclaimed the lead with a three-point basket, but not for long until Dea Bradley tied the score from the charity stripe. The Blue Raiders capitalized off the Lady Tigers' fouls to get ahead by four as the time on the clock expired. At the end of the first ten minutes of play, Campbellsville trailed Lindsey Wilson, 23-17.

Hallie Allen came off the bench opening the second quarter with two jumpers assisted by Maddie Nalley and Talynne Shearer. The Blue Raiders did not hesitate to fight back, scoring three buckets of their own in the paint. Whitney Hay's back-to-back layups chipped at Campbellsville's deficit on the scoreboard. Tyra Flowers and Lauren Lee's action in the paint tied the score at 29 halfway through the second quarter. With less than two minutes left in the first half, Hay and Lee reclaimed the Lady Tigers' advantage with back-to-back layups. At the half, Campbellsville led by one, 39-38.

Lindsey Wilson regained the lead with a jumper in the opening second of the second half. The Lady Tigers stole the lead back from the free-throw line. Campbellsville continued to return to the charity stripe as the Blue Raiders maintained foul-heavy play on the court. Both teams elevated their rebounding in attempts to answer their dominance over the game, but the scoreboard remained tight with only three minutes left until the final quarter. Lindsey Wilson's turnovers remained their biggest weakness throughout the third. Serafini scored her second three-point bucket with only two seconds left until the fourth quarter. Going into the last ten minutes of play, the Lady Tigers lead, 60-54.

Coming into the final quarter, Flowers and Shearer's aggressive layups propelled Campbellsville forward on the advantage, earning the Lady Tigers' largest lead of the night with nine points over the Blue Raiders. Lindsey Wilson retaliated with relentless three-pointers to decrease their deficit, but Campbellsville's plays in the paint were far too strong for them to overcome. The Lady Tigers closed the game with a victory, 79-68.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action on Sunday, March 3rd, for the Mid-South Conference Tournament Semifinals against the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders, beginning at 1 p.m. ET.
