Lady Tigers score 28 runs, blank Crimson Pride through two contests

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The (RV) Lady Tigers hosted the Indiana University Columbus Crimson Pride on Wednesday for the first home doubleheader of the season. Campbellsville closed their home opener with back-to-back, lopsided wins against IU Columbus including Hannah Hackworth's program-tying single-game record for RBIs (seven).

GAME ONE: Campbellsville 15, IU Columbus 0

The Crimson Pride singled to shortstop to begin the first inning. However, they were quickly put away before they managed to score. Emily Reynolds reached base via walk, and Rylee Warner followed, singling to the left center. Jessie Daniels stepped up to the plate, bringing Reynolds and Warner across the plate with the game's first home run. Caroline Pitcock, Selynna Metcalfe, and Annabelle Knoop loaded the Lady Tigers' bases shortly after. Campbellsville's bottom of the first was over before they could cross home.

IU Columbus was swiftly put away in a three-up, three-down style during the top of the second inning. The Lady Tigers collected a hit during their share of the inning but could not score before being put away.

Much like the second, the Crimson Pride were quickly out away in a three-up, three-down fashion during the top of the third. Campbellsville's bottom of the inning was highlighted by a three-run home run by Hannah Hackworth.

Although IU Columbus reached base via walk, they could not score before the end of the top of the fourth. Warner opened the bottom of the inning with a home run to center field, extending the Lady Tigers' lead. Hackworth and Jillian Jeffries each scored a grand slam, propelling Campbellsville to a 15-0 victory.

GAME TWO: Campbellsville 13, IU Columbus 0

The Crimson Pride opened the game with a single to pitcher, unable to score before the end of the inning. Reynolds and Daniels reached base via walk, making it across the plate with a three-run home run by Pitcock. Camille Conkright followed with a single to left field, collecting another run by Metcalfe.

IU Columbus' portion of the second inning was short-lived and quickly put away in three-up, three-down style. Daniels' home run down the left field highlighted Campbellsville's bottom of the inning.

Much like the first, the Crimson Pride collected a single to right center, unable to score before switching sides with the Lady Tigers. Conkright doubled to left center to bring Ashby Murt home for another Campbellsville run.

IU Columbus struggled to get on the board, being put away in a three-up, three-down style to begin the fourth inning. Pitcock and Metcalfe collected back-to-back two RBIs, collecting four runs from Warner, Reynolds, Pitcock, and Jeffries. Ashton Wheeler stepped up to the plate with a single to right field for two RBIs, as Madison Reed and Taylor Windell crossed the home plate to extend the Lady Tigers' advantage during the bottom of the fourth inning.

Although the Crimson Pride collected a single to right center, they could not reach the plate, securing Campbellsville a second victory, 13-0.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action tomorrow, Thursday, February 27th, hosting the Midway University Eagles, beginning at 1 & 3 p.m. ET.
