CEDARVILLE, OH – The Tigers placed 2nd at this years NCCAA Indoor Championships with multiple events earning titles over the weekend.
The first win of the weekend came from the distance medley relay.

Myles Smithson,
Alex Steen, and Matthias Brice won the NCCAA crown in 10:24.49.
Dominic Malel was the second victory of the weekend for Campbellsville. Malel won the 5,000m run by a narrow margin of .19 seconds in 15:09.40.
In the 4x200m relay, Campbellsville set the school record in the event with
Zachary Phelps,
JaQuez Campbell,
Devin Girtman, and
Kamarion Ward winning the relay in 1:29.83. The final relay of the meet that the Tigers won was the 4x800m relay. Lukas, Myles, Malel, and Steen set a school record in the event, cruising to an 8.29-second victory of 8:03.64.
Phelps won his second event of the meet in the 400m. He won by .13 seconds over second place in a time of 50.90.
CamRon Hamby won the NCCAA triple jump crown with a mark of 14.60m coming off his third jump of the day.
Jason Baskerville was the runner-up in the 60m finals. He was .02 off the victory with his time of 6.85, only .02 from tying the school record in the event. Girtman earned the team two points placing 7th in the finals at 7.10. Girtman made his way back to the podium in the 200m placing 3rd overall in 22.60. Ward placed 6th in the 200m in 22.64.
Ward returned to the podium in the 400m, where he placed 3rd overall in 51.16. Brice earned two points in the 400m, placing 7th in 51.73. Myles gave the Tigers one point in the 800m running a time of 2:01.55.
Martin Batel and
Jean Benoit Merte added five points to the team score in the 5,000m run. Batel was 5th overall in 15:28.03, and Merte was 8th at 15:34.60.
Emmanuel Niang earned All-American honors in the 60m finals where he ran a time of 8.54. Brice, Phelps, Ward, and
Isaiah Johnson placed 7th in the 4x400m relay in 3:38.69.
For the field events,
Raylon Wilson added an All-American to the list in the high jump. Wilson was 3rd in the event with a height of 1.92m that was cleared on his first attempt. Hamby placed 4th but cleared 1.92m on his second attempt. In the long jump, Hamby was the runner-up in the event with a jump landing at 6.98m. Wilson earned the 8th place point at 6.44m.
Corey Smith II finished behind Hamby in the triple jump placing 2nd in the event with a mark of 14.02m on his fifth jump of the day.
David Young made his way to the score sheet placing 6th in the triple jump with two jumps at 13.46m.
Seth Cartwright was the lone scorer for the Tigers in the throws this weekend. Cartwright placed 7th in the shot put with a best throw of 13.83m.
As a team, the Tigers placed 2nd overall with 134 team points. Host Cedarville University won the meet with 177 team points. Hamby was named the Field Athlete of the Meet for the second year in a row.
Campbellsville will now have one final meet in the regular season of the indoor schedule at the Mid-South Conference Championships on Thursday, February 13th, in Louisville, KY.
