Lady Tigers sweep Georgetown in season-opening conference series

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The #25 Lady Tigers hosted the Georgetown College Tigers on Saturday for the second day of their three-game series. Campbellsville secured two more victories, closing out the series undefeated against Georgetown.

GAME ONE: Campbellsville 10, Georgetown 1

The Lady Tigers' defense began the game strong, putting the rival Tigers away in three-up, three down. Emily Reynolds and Rylee Warner opened the bottom of the first with singles. Jessie Daniels followed, singling to second base and bringing Reynolds to score the game's first run. Warner crossed the plate shortly after Selynna Metcalfe filed out to left field.

Georgetown scored their first run during the top of the second inning with a single down the right-field line. Reynolds tripled to right center to bring two more runs for Campbellsville as Harris and Camille Conkright reached home. It did not take long for Reynolds to cross the plate herself with a double to right field by Rylee Warner

Much like the first, the Lady Tigers quickly put the opposing Tigers away in three-up, three-down style. Metcalfe reached base with a hit by pitch, pushing Carolina Pitcock to second. A double to left field by Hannah Hackwroth and a sacrifice fly by Annabelle Knoop brought Pitcock and Metcalfe across the plate, increasing Campbellsville's advantage over Georgetown.

The fourth was short-lived for both teams. Each collected a hit but could not score before the inning's end. The Lady Tigers took an early lead after the fifth inning, 10-1.

GAME TWO: Campbellsville 7, Georgetown 4

The rival Tigers racked up three runs within their share of the first frame, with two singles and one double. The Lady Tigers could not score during their bottom of the first, which was put away in three-up, three-down style.

Georgetown opened the second with a single to right field, but they could not score before switching sides with Campbellsville. Daniels came into the bottom of the inning with intense energy, scoring the game's first home run. Pitcock and Hackwroth tied the score at three before the end of the inning.

The opposing Tigers struggled to preserve their momentum coming into the third inning and quickly put away in three-up, three-down style. Although Daniels, Pitcock, and Metcalfe all reached base throughout the Lady Tigers' share of the inning, neither could score before being put away.

Georgetown reached base on an error by shortstop, reclaiming the lead with another run. Campbellsville did not falter to retaliate and tie the score again, with Ashby Murt crossing the plate afterward—another single from Reynolds.

The rival Tigers collected a hit in the top of the sixth, but they could not score and were still trailing the Lady Tigers. Warner's two-RBI single through the left side resulted in another run by Conkright. Makayla Hogg pinch ran for Warner, stealing second base and securing another run to add to Campbellsville's upper hand. Georgetown collected another single at the top of the seventh, unable to score, ending the game in another Lady Tiger victory, 7-4.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action, traveling to Dayton, Tennessee, to battle the Bryan College Lions for a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 25th, beginning at 1 & 3 p.m. ET.
