Slone's 3rd-place finish leads Tigers at NAIA Championships

PARK CITY, Kan. – The Campbellsville University men's wrestling team concluded their season at the 2025 NAIA National Championships, finishing with 50.5 team points to come in 11th place. Shad Slone led the way, earning third overall in the 174-lbs. bracket.

The Tigers had three wrestlers in the top eight of their respective weight classes to earn All-American status but ultimately fell short of their championship aspirations. Despite earning 11th overall, the Tigers had the fifth most total match points earned with 270.

Slone received a bye in the first round and won his next two matches by technical fall, besting #21 Benedict Holthaus of Friends University and Indiana Tech's #13 Leo Galasso. Slone only allowed a single point in those matches while putting up 32 of his own. He lost to #1 Alex Reynolds of Grand View in the semifinals but returned to win the 3rd-place match by technical fall, blanking Embry Riddle's #7 Daniil Gorshkov, 15-0.
