Toeing the rubber for the Tigers was Chase Tucker, making his fifth start and 15th appearance of the season. Lorenzo Gonzalez reached on an error that plated Fujie and moved Gilbert into scoring position. Looking to keep adding on, Tanner Park clutched up with a double to dead-centerfield that brought Gilbert home and advanced Gonzalez to third base. The Tigers wound up stranding both runners, but the early damage was done.
