COLUMBIA, Ky. — Campbellsville nearly erased an eight-point deficit in the second set, but Lindsey Wilson held off the Tigers' comeback and used a .278 hitting percentage to earn a 25-16, 25-23, 25-16 Mid-South Conference sweep Friday at Biggers Sports Center.
- Campbellsville moved to 17-6 overall and 3-1 in Mid-South Conference play, while Lindsey Wilson improved to 13-11 and 3-2. It was the Tigers' first conference loss of the season.
- Lindsey Wilson finished with a 39-29 advantage in kills and outhit Campbellsville.278-.040. The Blue Raiders committed 12 attacking errors, while the Tigers totaled 25.
- Kaytlin Miller provided Campbellsville's most productive attack, recording a team-high eight kills with two errors on 16 swings for a .375 hitting percentage. She produced six kills during the Tigers' second-set comeback and added two block assists.
- Campbellsville's strongest offensive set came in the second, when the Tigers recorded 13 kills and hit .206. They closed an eight-point deficit with an 11-3 run and tied the frame at 23 before Lindsey Wilson secured the final two rallies.
- Kati Vest distributed 18 assists and added three kills on seven attempts, eight digs and no ball-handling errors. Celestina Retumban led Campbellsville with nine digs and served the Tigers' lone ace.
- Lindsey Wilson's Gabi Zuquelo led all players with 12 kills and a .478 hitting percentage, while Sofija Pjevic added five errorless kills on nine attempts. The Blue Raiders hit above .300 in each of the first two sets.
- Campbellsville finished with four total blocks, including a solo block from Brooke Hager. Sophie Hill contributed three block assists, and Miller added two.
Lindsey Wilson created the first meaningful separation of the match after Campbellsville pulled within 13-12 in the opening set. The Blue Raiders answered with eight of the next nine points, using four Campbellsville attack errors, an ace, and two kills to establish a 21-13 advantage.
Libby Erwin ended the run with a kill and added another two rallies later, but Lindsey Wilson maintained control. The Blue Raiders claimed the final two points on Campbellsville attack errors to close the set 25-16. Campbellsville recorded 10 kills but committed 10 errors to finish the frame at .000.
Lindsey Wilson again created separation midway through the second set. After Campbellsville pulled within 12-11 on an
Elif Akcivi kill, the Blue Raiders scored eight of the next nine points to take a 20-12 lead. Zuquelo recorded three kills during the stretch, while Lindsey Wilson's block forced two additional Campbellsville errors.
The Tigers responded behind Miller's attack and Retumban's serve. Miller delivered six kills during an 11-3 run, including five in Campbellsville's final seven points, before Retumban's ace tied the set at 23.
A service error ended Campbellsville's run and gave Lindsey Wilson set point. Zuquelo followed with her seventh kill of the frame to secure the 25-23 decision and give the Blue Raiders a two-set lead.
The teams played through ties at 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8 in the third set before Lindsey Wilson gained control. The Blue Raiders used a 5-0 run to move ahead 13-8, receiving two kills from Tully Bew and one from Pjevic while benefiting from two Campbellsville attack errors.
Campbellsville cut the deficit to 16-13 behind kills from Miller, Erwin, and Hill, but Lindsey Wilson answered with five consecutive points. The Blue Raiders extended their advantage to 23-14 before closing the match on a Campbellsville attack error for a 25-16 victory.
Miller paced Campbellsville with eight kills and a .375 hitting percentage, while Akcivi added six kills and six digs. Hill and Erwin finished with four kills apiece, Vest recorded 18 assists and eight digs, and Retumban collected nine digs as the Tigers sustained their first Mid-South Conference setback.
