CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Campbellsville University remained among the nation's top 15 Monday, coming in at No. 13 in the Oct. 5 edition of the STADIONIC NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25.
The Fighting Tigers moved down four positions following Saturday's 30-21 loss at then-No. 12 Lindsey Wilson. Campbellsville carried a 21-20 lead into the fourth quarter before the Blue Raiders scored the final 10 points. The Tigers are 4-1 overall and 0-1 in Mid-South Conference play.
Campbellsville opened the season with four consecutive nonconference victories, defeating Saint Francis 45-14, Pikeville 27-14, Webber International 37-0, and Thomas 80-10. The Tigers have outscored their opponents 210-68, including a 102-24 advantage after halftime.
The Fighting Tigers are averaging 42 points and 512.8 yards per game while allowing 13.6 points and 266.4 yards per contest. Campbellsville has gained 2,564 total yards, nearly twice its opponents' total of 1,332, and holds a 121-81 advantage in first downs.
Campbellsville has produced 1,534 passing yards and 1,030 rushing yards through five games. The Tigers average 7.7 yards per offensive play, 5.9 yards per rushing attempt, and 15.7 yards per completion.
Quarterback
Justyce Law has completed 81 of 132 passes for 1,230 yards and 10 touchdowns while rushing for 236 yards and a team-high six scores. Law has accounted for 1,466 yards of total offense, an average of 293.2 per game.
Troy Oliver leads Campbellsville with 307 receiving yards on 17 catches, while
Ashton Auker has a team-high 18 receptions for 272 yards.
Easton Barlow has added 245 yards and two touchdowns, and
Jaysean Pritchard leads the receiving corps with three touchdown catches.
The Tigers' defense has held opponents to 98.8 rushing yards and 167.6 passing yards per game. Campbellsville has allowed two passing touchdowns through five contests while recording 31 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, six interceptions, and 25 pass breakups. Opposing quarterbacks have completed 51.8% of their attempts and posted a combined efficiency rating of 91.0.
Jaquon Coulter leads Campbellsville with 24 tackles and has added an interception and four pass breakups.
Tyler Ballard has recorded 23 tackles, three tackles for loss, and a sack, while
Jerrod Johnson has contributed 20 tackles, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
College of Idaho received eight first-place votes and took sole possession of the No. 1 ranking. Keiser received the remaining four first-place votes and sits second, followed by Indiana Wesleyan, Benedictine, and Grand View.
Campbellsville is one of three Mid-South Conference programs in the Top 25. Lindsey Wilson climbed to No. 11 following Saturday's result, while Georgetown moved up two positions to No. 22. Cumberland and Cumberlands received votes.
The Fighting Tigers return to action Saturday when they continue Mid-South Conference play.
