LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Facing a field stacked with Power Five competition, the Campbellsville University Track & Field teams rose to the occasion this weekend at the 2026 PNC Lenny Lyles Open. The highlight of the meet came from hurdler
Schavon Carr, who navigated a field of SEC and Big 12 athletes to reach the finals of the 60-meter hurdles.
- Schavon Carr proved he belongs among the nation's best, advancing to the 60-meter hurdles finals against Division I talent and finishing 7th with a time of 8.20 seconds (8.02 in semis).
- Matthias Brice delivered a season-best performance in the 400-meter dash, stopping the clock at 50.79 seconds.
- David Young was the top field performer for the Tigers, recording a mark of 14.42 meters (47' 3.75") in the triple jump.
- Martin Batel was the top finisher for the distance squad in a crowded 5,000-meter field, placing 26th with a time of 15:42.59.
- Makiyah Allen paced the women's team on the track, competing in both the 60-meter dash (8.06) and 60-meter hurdles (9.06).
- Dasia Garland and Kariana Harrigan led the women's field efforts, with Harrigan posting a solid 10.52m (34' 6.25") in the triple jump.
- The Tigers will use the momentum from Louisville as they enter the final stretch of the indoor regular season, with eyes set on the upcoming Mid-South Conference Championships.
Schavon Carr made a massive statement on the track. He advanced through the 60-meter hurdles semifinals with a blazing time of 8.02 seconds, one of the fastest times in the NAIA this season. In the finals, lining up against top-tier Division I sprinters, he crossed the line in 8.20 seconds to take 7th place.
"Schavon made a huge statement this weekend," Head Coach
Ranard Adkison said. "Making the finals and competing against Power Five programs, he rose to the occasion. What impressed me most was his composure and execution in a high-pressure environment. Performances like that show he's ready for the postseason."
In the sprints,
Matthias Brice led the way in the 400-meter dash, clocking a season-best 50.79 seconds. He later joined forces with
JaQuez Campbell,
Isiah Bain, and
Aaron Smith to power the 4x400-meter relay team to a finish of 3:24.27. Bain also added a solid effort in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 22.75.
The distance crew faced a grueling field in the 5,000-meter run.
Martin Batel was the first Tiger across the line, placing 26th overall with a time of 15:42.59.
Aaron Smith followed closely behind in 15:56.86. In the mile, Nathan Sury battled to a finish of 4:19.76, placing 66th in a loaded field.
In the field events,
David Young continued his strong campaign in the triple jump, recording a leap of 14.42 meters (47' 3.75").
Neo Khanye added a clearance of 6.58 meters (21' 7.25") in the long jump, while Marcus Bell threw for 12.38 meters (40' 7.5") in the shot put.
Makiyah Allen continued to be the catalyst for the Lady Tigers, leading the squad on the track with times of 8.06 in the 60-meter dash and 9.06 in the 60-meter hurdles.
In the jumps,
Kariana Harrigan anchored the field unit. She excelled in both horizontal jumps, recording a mark of 4.81 meters (15' 9.5") in the long jump and 10.52 meters (34' 6.25") in the triple jump.
Dasia Garland also competed in the triple jump, adding depth to the Tigers' field performance.
Coach Adkison praised the squad's resilience against top-tier opponents.
"Competing against Division I programs and high-level competition challenged our athletes in the right ways, and I was proud of how we showed up," Adkison said. "This meet was exactly the kind of test we needed as we move closer to the postseason. The confidence, focus, and intent—that's the standard we expect as we prepare for the championship part of our season."
