Campbellsville dominated the game from the opening tip, starting the contest with a 7-0 run fueled by a
Whitney Hay three-pointer and a
Dea Bradley layup. Georgetown did not collect their first point until the 6:58 mark via a free throw, followed shortly by a three-pointer. However, the Lady Tigers' offensive advantage only grew. Hay was unstoppable early, reaching double digits halfway through the first quarter, while the defense held Georgetown to just 12 points in the period to take a 22-12 lead.
Lainey Johnson opened the second quarter scoring from beyond the arc. In the following minutes, Bradley and
Hallie Allen followed with back-to-back triples, increasing Campbellsville's advantage to 13 points at 31-18. Georgetown struggled to maintain possession, racking up turnovers that boosted the Lady Tigers' offensive onslaught. While Georgetown's Anna Long provided a pivotal force with double-figure scoring in the first half, Campbellsville maintained control, taking a 43-29 lead into the locker room.
The first few minutes of the second half saw a brief scoring halt, with both teams struggling to convert baskets. Georgetown's Daisy Gale, the visiting Tigers' leading scorer, finally interrupted the drought with a three-pointer at the 8:23 mark. Campbellsville struck back by capitalizing on multiple Georgetown fouls, with Hay and
Tyra Flowers converting at the line. Flowers' offensive rebounding was a testament to the Lady Tigers' ability to maintain control, but Georgetown's perimeter shooting heated up late in the period. The visitors narrowed the gap to just five points, 57-52, heading into the fourth quarter.
As the fourth quarter unfolded, Campbellsville's short-range shooting kept Georgetown at bay. Hay's sharp shooting was unrelenting; she struck time and time again with mid-range jumpers and layups, preventing the visitors from getting closer than six points. Georgetown could not preserve possession down the stretch, committing six turnovers in the final three minutes. Johnson sealed the game late, knocking down two free throws and converting a layup in the closing seconds to finalize the 78-67 conference victory.
