NEW YORK, N.Y. / LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Campbellsville University Track & Field teams proved they can compete on any stage this weekend, testing themselves against top-tier competition at the Rutgers Scarlet Knights Open in New York City while continuing their strong indoor campaign at the Eastern Indoors Collegiate in Louisville.
- JaQuez Campbell delivered a career-defining performance in New York, winning the long jump with a personal-best mark of 7.34 meters (24' 1") to hit the NAIA 'A' standard.
- Schavon Carr clocked a personal-best 6.99 seconds in the 60-meter dash and won the 60-meter hurdles at the Rutgers Scarlet Knights Open.
- David Young placed 5th in the triple jump at Rutgers, recording a mark of 14.33 meters (47' 0.25").
- Nathan Sury led the Tigers in Louisville, placing 2nd in the 1,000-meter run with a season-best time of 2:30.06.
- Matthias Brice sprinted to a season-best 49.60 seconds in the 400-meter dash at the Eastern Indoors Collegiate.
- Kayla Barr anchored the women's throws in Louisville with marks of 12.63 meters (weight throw) and 11.33 meters (shot put).
The trip to the Big Apple was highlighted by breakthrough performances from
JaQuez Campbell and
Schavon Carr, who both etched their names onto the national radar at The Armory.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights Open (New York, N.Y.)
In a field loaded with Division I talent from the Northeast, the Tigers didn't just compete: they excelled.
JaQuez Campbell delivered the performance of the meet for Campbellsville, soaring to victory in the men's long jump. His winning leap of 7.34 meters (24 feet, 1 inch) was a personal best and secured his first career NAIA 'A' Standard, punching his ticket to the national championships.
On the track,
Schavon Carr continued his tear through the indoor season. Carr won the 60-meter hurdles, defeating a field of Division I hurdlers with a time that ranks among the top three in the NAIA this season. He showcased his speed on the flat as well, qualifying for the 60-meter dash finals and clocking a personal-best time of 6.99 seconds.
David Young added to the Tigers' success in the jumps, placing 5th in the triple jump with a mark of 14.33 meters (47 feet, 0.25 inches). On the women's side,
Makiyah Allen advanced to the 60-meter hurdles finals and posted competitive times in the 60-meter dash.
Dasia Garland also performed well in the triple jump, recording a mark of 10.61 meters (34 feet, 9.75 inches).
"Bringing the team to New York was about placing them in a high-level competitive environment, and they absolutely showed up," Head Coach
Ranard Adkison said. "Everyone came ready to compete. Performances like these are a direct result of our athletes trusting the process and embracing the moment."

Back in the Commonwealth, a contingent of Tigers produced season-best marks at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.
Nathan Sury led the way for the distance squad, placing second in the 1,000-meter run with a season-best time of 2:30.06.
In the sprints,
Matthias Brice clocked a season-best 49.60 seconds in the 400-meter dash, showing he is hitting his stride at the right time. Teammate
Chris Thomas added a solid 51.51 in the same event.
The field events saw steady contributions from the throws crew.
Kayla Barr led the women's effort with a toss of 12.63 meters in the weight throw and 11.33 meters in the shot put. On the men's side, Marcus Bell and
Joel Roberts represented the Tigers in the shot put and weight throw, adding depth to the team's performance.
With the regular season winding down, the Tigers now turn their full attention to championship season.
"These meets gave our team confidence and experience as we look toward the NCCAA Championships, Mid-South Conference Championships, and NAIA National Championships in the coming weeks," Adkison said.
