  • Second baseman Lydia Jones sparked the decisive fourth-inning rally with a double to left field, representing one of Campbellsville's three hits on the day.
  • The Lady Tigers wrap up their five-game stint in Gulf Shores with a resilient victory over a ranked opponent, improving to 11-8 on the young 2026 campaign.
  • Campbellsville will next be in Midway, Kentucky, facing the Eagles in a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 11 at 2 p.m. ET.
Campbellsville starter Ellie Coley (2-2) was dialed in immediately, though she had to navigate early trouble in the bottom of the first inning. After the Crusaders stacked back-to-back one-out singles, Coley induced a clutch strikeout looking and a groundout to shortstop to escape the jam unscathed.

William Carey's starter was equally effective, stifling the Lady Tiger bats and keeping the game scoreless through the first three frames. Campbellsville's Korey Harris managed a leadoff single in the top of the first, but the offense was largely kept off balance early.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the top of the fourth inning. With one out, Lydia Jones ripped a double into left field to jumpstart the momentum. Following a pop-up, Jessie Daniels stepped to the plate with two outs and delivered the game's defining swing. Daniels laced an RBI single to left field, allowing Jones to race home and giving Campbellsville a 1-0 advantage.

Armed with the narrow lead, Coley continued to navigate the Crusader lineup. Her composure was tested in the bottom of the fifth when William Carey threatened with runners on the corners and two outs. Unfazed, Coley forced the Crusaders into an inning-ending flyout to left field, preserving the shutout.

The drama peaked in the bottom of the sixth inning. After Coley recorded the first out, William Carey laced a double to center field, representing the tying run. The Lady Tigers then went to the bullpen, calling upon senior ace Emma Markham to shut the door.

Markham's entry was immediately met with adversity as a passed ball allowed pinch-runner Mackenzie Smith to advance to third base, putting the tying run just a base away with only one out. Markham caused a crucial pop-up to shortstop and followed it with a flyout to left field, stranding the runner at third and crushing the Crusaders' momentum.

Markham returned for the bottom of the seventh and slammed the game completely shut, retiring William Carey in 1-2-3 order on a flyout, a groundout to third, and a lineout to left field to secure her first save of the season.

Coley earned the hard-fought victory, scattering five hits and allowing zero runs over 5.1 innings while striking out two. Markham was flawless in relief, tossing 1.2 perfect, hitless innings to seal the 1-0 upset.

Campbellsville finishes the Gulf Coast Invitational on a high note and will return to Kentucky with an 11-8 overall record.
