VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. — Campbellsville University controlled the attacking play and twice took a second-half lead, but (RV) Xavier University of Louisiana converted a penalty kick in the 88th minute to secure a 2-2 draw Tuesday.

The Tigers outshot Xavier 15-2, including a 7-0 advantage in the first half, and conceded only two attempts throughout the match.

Three of the match's four goals came during a six-minute stretch. Marta Prieto opened the scoring at 70:50, Xavier equalized at 75:14 and Julia Ogren restored Campbellsville's lead exactly one minute later.

Prieto accounted for six of Campbellsville's 15 shots, struck the post in the first half and scored her first goal of the season in the 71st minute.

Campbellsville made its chances count after halftime. The Tigers put two of their eight second-half shots into the net after entering the break scoreless despite generating seven attempts.

Ogren's unassisted goal came only 60 seconds after Xavier tied the match, allowing Campbellsville to retake the lead before the Golden Nuggets could build upon their equalizer.

The Golden Nuggets did not attempt a shot in the first half but converted their two second-half efforts, including Julia Gurgel's late penalty kick.

The Tigers remained unbeaten. Campbellsville moved to 1-0-1 through its first two matches after opening the season with a 5-0 victory over Brescia. Xavier also moved to 1-0-1.
Campbellsville established possession in the attacking third early, producing three shots and a corner kick within the opening seven minutes. Jessie Amphlett, Josephine Lindström and Prieto each attempted shots during the opening sequence, but none tested Xavier goalkeeper Aylin Yildirim.
The Tigers continued to generate opportunities while keeping Xavier without a shot. Oddny Helgadottir and Amphlett missed attempts before Prieto produced Campbellsville's most dangerous chance of the half, striking the post in the 29th minute.
Campbellsville entered halftime with a 7-0 advantage in shots, but the match remained scoreless. Xavier earned its lone first-half corner kick in the 44th minute without producing an attempt from the ensuing set piece.
The Tigers recorded the first shot on goal in the 50th minute when Yildirim saved an effort from Amelie Matheis. Campbellsville continued to press, with Laura Munoz delivering two corner kicks before the breakthrough arrived in the 71st minute.
Sofia Lara supplied the final pass to Prieto, who converted her first goal of the season to give Campbellsville a 1-0 lead at 70:50. Prieto and Grace Smith each had shots blocked during the following two minutes as the Tigers looked to extend their advantage.
Xavier answered with its first shot of the match. Shakiana Dagher assisted Jayla Renter's equalizer at 75:14, bringing the Golden Nuggets level at 1-1.
Campbellsville needed only one minute to respond. Ogren scored unassisted at 76:14, restoring the Tigers' advantage with her first goal of the season.
The Tigers carried the 2-1 lead into the closing minutes, but Xavier received a penalty kick following a Campbellsville yellow card at 87:43. Gurgel converted from the spot eight seconds later, accounting for Xavier's second shot and tying the match at 2-2.
Campbellsville finished with advantages in shots, 15-2, and corner kicks, 3-2. The Tigers committed seven fouls to Xavier's five as both teams remained unbeaten at 1-0-1.
