Tigers overwhelm Union Commonwealth in 4-0 shutout

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. Fiona Jolly contributed a goal and an assist as Sydney Hall and Verena Schneider combined for a clean sheet Friday, leading Campbellsville to a 4-0 victory over Union Commonwealth and a 2-0-1 start to the season.

The Tigers continued to create chances after taking the lead. Helgadottir forced a save in the 12th minute, while Ingiborg Sigurdadottir and Prieto generated headed attempts following another Campbellsville corner.

Union Commonwealth produced its only two shots on goal during a short first-half sequence. Hall denied Alberta Yirenkyi in the 25th minute and stopped Isabel Meier approximately one minute later to preserve the lead.

Campbellsville resumed control following those opportunities. The Tigers generated nine more first-half shots, including a Grace Smith attempt that struck the crossbar in the 42nd minute. Union Commonwealth goalkeeper Adelyn Bersuder then saved an effort from Selma Persson as Campbellsville carried its 1-0 advantage into halftime.

The Tigers needed less than two minutes of the second half to add to their lead. Matheis scored unassisted at 46:53, giving Campbellsville a 2-0 advantage.
Campbellsville continued to apply pressure, forcing four saves over the next 13 minutes. Prieto extended the advantage at 68:53 after receiving the final pass from Jolly.

Matheis struck the post less than a minute later before Palframan connected with Lindström for Campbellsville's fourth goal at 71:43. The two goals came 2:50 apart and completed the scoring.

Schneider replaced Hall in goal at 74:53 and helped close out Campbellsville's second shutout through its first three matches. The Bulldogs managed one final shot in the 90th minute, but the attempt was blocked.

Campbellsville finished with advantages of 36-3 in shots, 16-2 in shots on goal, and 10-3 in corner kicks.
