Second-half surge lifts Campbellsville past Pikeville, 6-2

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — The Tigers scored five second-half goals, including three in less than four minutes late in the match, to defeat the University of Pikeville Bears 6-2 on Tuesday and remain unbeaten through its first four contests.

Prieto opened the scoring from the penalty spot at 17:41. The Tigers continued to create opportunities, with Ogren, Jolly, and Prieto among those generating attempts before halftime.

Pikeville threatened during that stretch, but Hall denied Iselle Reding in the 29th minute. Campbellsville nearly doubled its advantage before the break when Sofia Lara struck the crossbar in the 42nd minute, leaving the Tigers ahead 1-0 at halftime after holding a 12-4 advantage in shots.

The Bears equalized quickly after the restart. Prieto recorded a defensive save on a Sara Ritter attempt in the 47th minute, but Ritter scored at 48:01 to make it 1-1.

Campbellsville answered at 50:31 when Jolly scored unassisted to restore the lead. Matheis then converted a penalty kick at 54:30, pushing the Tigers ahead 3-1.

Pikeville pulled within one at 64:58 through Jayla Boyd, giving the Bears an opportunity to draw level for a second time. Campbellsville prevented the comeback by taking control during the final 15 minutes.

Ogren began the decisive scoring run with an unassisted goal at 75:57. After Cress saved attempts from Josephine Lindström and Prieto, Prieto converted the follow-up opportunity at 79:07 for her second goal of the match.

Munoz completed the scoring 48 seconds later, converting Campbellsville's second penalty kick to produce the 6-2 final. The Tigers finished with six unassisted goals, an 11-8 advantage in shots on goal, and a 2-1 edge in corner kicks.
