UPLAND, Ind. — The Tigers held two leads Wednesday before No. 20 Taylor University scored twice in the final nine minutes to rally past the Tigers 3-2 at Turner Stadium.
- Julia Ogren put the Tigers ahead in the 17th minute, and Fiona Jolly restored the advantage six minutes into the second half.
- Ogren and Jolly continued their scoring runs. Ogren's goal was her seventh of the season, while Jolly recorded her sixth.
- Taylor held a narrow advantage in shots, 15-13, and in shots on goal, 8-7, with each team's goaltenders making five saves.
- The Tigers created several opportunities to build upon their leads. Jessie Amphlett struck the crossbar in the first half, and Campbellsville forced five saves after moving ahead 1-0.
- Sydney Hall kept Campbellsville in front during the second half. Hall made three saves after halftime and five overall, including stops in the 75th and 88th minutes.
- Taylor's set-piece pressure grew after the break. The Trojans earned six second-half corner kicks and finished with a 7-0 advantage in corners.
- Campbellsville's unbeaten start ended in the closing minutes. The Tigers moved to 5-1-2, while Taylor improved to 6-1-1.
Taylor produced the first attempt of the match, but Campbellsville broke through at 16:25 when Ogren scored unassisted to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
The Trojans answered at 28:09. Hall initially stopped an attempt from Emma Swygart, but Faith Sena converted the ensuing opportunity off assists from Swygart and Lauryn Dolvin to level the match.
Campbellsville nearly regained the lead five minutes later when Amphlett's attempt struck the crossbar.
Laura Munoz and
Anita Arnadottir subsequently forced saves from Ava Callaway, but the teams entered halftime tied 1-1.
The Tigers moved back in front at 50:11. Arnadottir supplied the assist to Jolly, who scored to give Campbellsville a 2-1 advantage.
Campbellsville continued to threaten after taking the lead. Marisa Reinhard, who entered in goal to begin the second half, denied
Marta Prieto in the 52nd minute and
Wilma Gidlof in the 61st.
Taylor increased its pressure as the second half progressed, earning four corner kicks between the 58th and 74th minutes. Hall preserved the Tigers' lead with a save on Leilani Bisera at 74:08.
Campbell Massey equalized for Taylor at 81:44, then tested Hall again in the 88th minute. Hall made the save, but the Trojans earned a corner kick on the sequence.
Lydia Bailey delivered the ensuing service, and Reagan Britt scored at 88:06 to give Taylor its first lead. The Trojans protected the advantage through the final whistle, handing Campbellsville its first loss of the season.
