Campbellsville University Athletics

THIS SEASON AT CU: Blake Young is in his third season as a member of the Campbellsville University Fighting Tiger football program. Young earned a starting role at linebacker as a redshirt freshman in 2011. He currently holds the record for the most career blocked kicks with six through his first two seasons.

2012:  Led CU with 110 tackles (201 in career) ... 57 solo tackles … 53 assisted tackles … 12 tackles for a loss … three sacks (10 in career) … CU single-season record, four blocked kicks (6 in career) ... Served as the back-up punter for the Tigers … Posted 10 or more tackles in six games … Had a career-high 15 tackles against Georgetown College (Ky) … Named the MSC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 1, 2012 after blocking a potential game-winning field goal at Kentucky Christian University … Preseason All-NCCAA … Preseason All-MSC … First-Team All-MSC West Division … First Team All-NCCAA

2011: Second on the team with 87 total tackles … 45 solo tackles … 42 assisted tackles … 13.5 tackles for a loss … seven sacks … two blocked kicks …one fumble recovery … one safety … Single-game high was 11 tackles against the University of Pikeville (Ky.) … helped anchor CU’s defense en route to a National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Victory Bowl win.
 

High School: During his senior season at Sprayberry High School (Ga.) in 2009, Young collected 149 tackles in 10 games as a senior in 2009 … Collected 84 tackles in six games as a junior in 2008 … Set a SHS single-game record with 22 tackles in 2008 … Named player of the week nine times during last two seasons at Sprayberry … 2009 First Team All-State … 2008 and 2009 First Team All-County … 2008 and 2009 First Team All-Region … 2009 Cobb County Linebacker of the Year … 2009 SHS team captain … 2008 SHS Linebacker of the Year … 2009 SHS Defensive Player of the Year.
