"God has blessed me tremendously in allowing me to coach and mentor young men for over 40 years! I've been given so many blessings with family and friends. All glory and honor to the Creator of the world!"
Beauford Sanders is a highly accomplished baseball coach and administrator at Campbellsville University, where he holds the record for most wins by an active coach in Kentucky, with a career record of 1030-695. He also serves as the Associate Director of Athletics, overseeing game day operations, facility maintenance, and improvements.
Sanders' impact on the Campbellsville program is undeniable. He inherited a program that had struggled since the departure of a successful previous coach and transformed it into a national powerhouse. His leadership has resulted in 10 Mid-South Conference championships, including five consecutive tournament titles from 2005-2009. In 2018, the Tigers won their first NCCAA World Series title, a feat that earned Sanders NCCAA Coach of the Year honors. He also led the team to its first-ever appearance in the NCCAA World Series in 2013, where they finished third, and has guided them to multiple near misses in the NAIA World Series.
His commitment to the program is evident in the numerous facility upgrades implemented under his guidance. HIG Field has undergone a significant transformation, including new stadium seating, lights, a state-of-the-art media center, a new scoreboard, and an improved, professional-level playing surface. The program also boasts an expansive clubhouse with locker rooms, a lounge area, and other amenities, as well as a 10,000 square foot indoor training facility.
Prior to Campbellsville, Sanders built the program at North Greenville Junior College (S.C.) from scratch, becoming the all-time wins leader with a 268-247 record. His teams there won conference titles in 1985 and 1989, with the latter being the college's only regional championship at the time.
Beyond wins and losses, Sanders emphasizes character development. He instills values of accountability, responsibility, reliability, dependability, and trust in his players, striving to develop them into champions on and off the field. This focus has translated to a high graduation rate among his players, with many earning Academic All-Conference and All-American honors. He also prioritizes community service, engaging the team in projects like visiting nursing homes and supporting organizations like Operation Christmas Child and Angel Tree. The team also works closely with Kid's Spot in Campbellsville, hosting events for underprivileged children.
Sanders' influence extends beyond Campbellsville. He served as president of the NAIA's Baseball Coaches' Association from 2000 to 2002 and has been inducted into the Woodruff High School Hall of Fame, the North Greenville Junior College Halls of Fame, and the Campbellsville University Hall of Fame.
Originally from South Carolina, Sanders has resided in Campbellsville since accepting the job in 1990. He is an avid hunter and fisherman. He and his wife, Barbara, married in 2011. Barbara is a retired nurse and has two daughters (Christina & Kari) and a granddaughter (Lennon Mae). Sanders has three children of his own (Andrea, Nathan, and Neil) and five grandchildren (Tyler, Trinidy, Drake, Dawson and Lennon Mae). He is dedicated to his family and committed to providing his players with the best possible opportunities for growth, both athletically and personally.
