Carter Sibley is entering his third year as a graduate assistant for the Tiger baseball team. He’s will lead the outfielders and be the head coach for the Tiger junior varsity team.Â
Carter Sibley comes to us from Pensacola State College, a junior college in Pensacola, Fla., where he was an assistant coach for the Pirates for one season. Sibley helped lead the Pirates to a 22-27 record in 2016. While at PSC, Sibley was in charge of outfielders and coached first base. Sibley also assisted with the offense which was Top 15 in the country in stolen bases and averaged over seven runs a game. The 2016 Pirates team had two players drafted in the Major League Baseball Amateur draft. Two players signed with SEC programs and all of the sophomores signed scholarships to play baseball at four year institutions.
Before his days in Pensacola, Sibley was part of the coaching staff at Clarksville High School in Clarksville, Ind. He helped lead the baseball program to its first conference win in over four years as the Generals won three in his first year assisting. The following season, Sibley would take on the responsibilities of head JV coach as well as helping with the varsity program. That season the Generals varsity team would go on to win the conference championship, the school’s first ever in over 20 years.
Prior to his coaching career Sibley grew up in Shepherdsville, Ky. where he played five years of high school baseball at North Bullitt High. While playing for the Eagles, Sibley made the All-District Team, and the All-Region Team during his senior year campaign. His accomplishments continued into the postseason as he was named to the All District Tournament Team. Following high school Sibley traveled to eastern Kentucky to play for Alice Lloyd College. After starting all season and earning Second Team All-Conference honors for the Eagles, Sibley then transferred to Union College, in Barbourville, Ky. While at Union, Sibley helped the bulldogs win the 2011 Appalachian Athletic Conference championship, which then advanced to the NAIA Opening Round championship. Union would conclude the season with a 48-12 record and be ranked as high as seventh in the NAIA polls. The Bulldogs also advanced to the conference championship game his junior season. While at Union, the Bulldogs posted a record of 83-33 over the two seasons. A transfer to Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, Ind. would be the next step for Sibley as he played third base for the Grenedier program during his senior season. Sibley would then graduate from IUS with a bachelor’s degree in General Studies in 2013.
