In the summer of 2018, head coach Perry Thomas announced the hiring of defensive line coach Damien Goosby.

In his first year working with the Tigers' defensive lineman, he helped defensive end Dillon Day earn All Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division and All-NCCAA honors in Day's senior season. Day was the leading tackler on the defensive line as he finished the 2018 season with 42 total tackles while adding 2.5 tackles for a loss and 0.5 sacks.

In 2019, Goosby was a big part in the 15.5 sacks. His wall up front was led by Anthony Sams Jr., who recorded 14 solo and 20 assisted tackles. Sams also compllied 8.5 tackles for loss with 2.5 sacks.

Goosby has multiple years of coaching experience at the NCAA DII level as he was recently the defensive line coach at Lincoln University in Missouri. He helped broaden the recruiting aspect into the Kansas City, Northwest Georgia and Atlanta areas.

In addition, Goosby directed a unit that led the SIAC, and finished ranked in the Top 10 nationally, in each season. He coached a two-time All-American and helped Albany State finish third in the conference in sacks and fourth in rushing defense.

“Campbellsville football is rich in history and has been successful on and off the field,” said Goosby. “The strong academics mixed with a winning tradition makes recruiting easier and that's 90 percent of coaching.”

Goosby, 27, also plans to use his younger age to his advantage.

“Being a younger coach helps because most of the things players go through with school, time management, home sickness, etc. is something I've also been through in the last 10 years. That’s a positive in my eyes,” said Goosby.

Before his time at Lincoln in 2017, Goosby spent time at his alma mater Albany State University.

Besides coaching the defensive line, Goosby also managed the weight room and designed off-season workout and conditioning programs for Albany State's players. Goosby also assisted with special teams.

Goosby joined the coaching ranks after a four-year career as a nose tackle at Albany State, helping the Golden Rams win three division titles and a pair of SIAC championships. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health & Human Performance in 2015 and is currently pursuing a master's degree in public administration.
