She was a member of two regular season conference championship teams and a member of one conference tournament championship team. Denney competed in the NAIA National Tournament all four years of her playing career, and she led her team into the quarterfinals of the National Tournament from the point guard position in her freshman season.

Over the 11 seasons Denney has been working with the Lady Tigers Basketball program, she has been part of 316 of Coach High Colvin's 335 wins as the two have combined for a .821 winning percentage. Over that span, LTB has also earned six Mid-South Conference regular season championships, nine appearances in the MSC Tournament Championship and three MSC Tournament Championship wins.

Denney and High Colvin have taken Campbellsville women's basketball to the NAIA National Tournament in every season since 2008-09 with wins in all but two appearances with two trips to the Fab Four and an trip to the National Championship game in 2014-15.

Hootie was a gritty, hard-working player who always drew the toughest defensive assignment from the guard spot. She competed at the highest level every time she stepped onto the floor.

Off the floor, she also made her mark on Campbellsville University. Denney was named Valedictorian of the CU senior class in 2005. She was also named Ms. Campbellsville in that same senior season. Throughout the course of her career on the hardwood, Hootie was named an Academic All-American twice and was also named to the Mid-South Conference Academic All-Conference three times.  She graduated from Campbellsville University with a 4.0 GPA.

Upon graduation, she completed her Master’s Degree in Education. She currently teaches in the math department at Campbellsville University.

Hootie is a tireless worker who is willing to go the extra mile for others. She is actively involved in the recruiting process, and is also a key contributor in the scouting process. Organized, efficient, and always willing to go out of her way for others. Denney has been a huge piece of the puzzle for the Lady Tigers over the last seven seasons.

In the 2021-22 season, she was named the WBCA NAIA Assistant Coach of the Year
