COLUMBIA, Ky. – Junior distance runner for the Campbellsville University men's track and field team, Sam Kiser earned the Mid-South Conference Track Athlete of the Week, conference officials announced Monday afternoon.
 
Kiser competed in the mile run at the Rose-Hulman Engineer Invitational last Friday as he won the event by five seconds.
 
The mile became the event of night for the Tigers as Sam Kiser entered the event seeking to hit NAIA qualifying marks. Fellow Tiger Chris Stoeckel excelled in his pacing effort, he dropped off halfway through the event, helping propel Kiser to an NAIA A-standard qualifying mark of 4:18.85.
 
Campbellsville finished the event with a fifth-place team finish on 36 points in their second-straight event hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology during the indoor season.
 
Up next for the Tigers will be the DePauw Tiger Small College Invitational in Greencastle, Ind. this upcoming Friday.
