Freshman Melly Heaton Ties Record With 8 Three Pointers As Campbellsville Beats Dillard 88-81

Campbellsville, KY -  Campbellsville's Melly Heaton (FR/Princeton, KY) tied a Lady Tiger record with eight three-pointers as she led Campbellsville to an 88-81 home court victory over Dillard University (LA) tonight in the first game of the Holiday Inn Express Holiday Hoops Classic.

Heaton scored a game high 26 points and was one of four Lady Tigers in double-digit scoring.  Courtney Danis (FR/Mt. Sterling, KY) had 13 points, Jenna Hedges (SR/Louisville, KY) added 11 points and Sara Sexton (JR/Elizabethtown, KY) scored 10 points in the victory that pushed Campbellsville to a 7-5 mark for the season.

Campbellsville led 48-36 at halftime, and stretched the lead to 66-48 with 12:47 remaining.  But the Lady Blue Devils of Dillard fought back and pulled within five points, 86-81 with just :46 seconds remaining.  Campbellsville's Priscila Alves (SR/Sao Paulo, Brazil) hit two free throws to seal the Lady Tiger victory.

Campbellsville shot 47.7% for the game, including 54.5% (12/22) from the three point line while Dillard shot 60% for the game.

Campbellsville plays Harris-Stowe tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.  The Lady Hornets defeated Lindsey Wilson 70-65 in the second game tonight of the Classic.
