Lady Tigers Overcome 15 Point Halftime Deficit To Win 90-84 Over Waldorf In Overtime

Campbellsville's Lady Tigers overcame a 15 point halftime deficit and rallied to win 90-84 over Waldorf College last night in the first round of the Surf N Hoops Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii.
 
Campbellsville jumped out to a 19-11 lead with 15:50 in the first half and appeared to be on their way to an easy win, but Waldorf rallied by scoring nine straight points to take the lead at 20-19 with 14:30 to go in the first half.
 
Waldorf would build a 29-24 lead when a Courtney Danis layup pulled Campbellsville withinn 3 at 29-26 with 8:09 to play in the first half.  But then, Waldorf would outscore Campbellsville 18-6 to end the half with a 47-32 halftime lead.


Waldorf would build the lead to 17 in the second half, before Campbellsville slowly started to chip away at the margin.  With 2:57 to play in regulation, T.J. Thomas hit a three pointer to give Campbellsville a 75-73 lead.  Waldorf would score again to tie and Campbellsville's Jarobia Hill missed two free throws with :32 remaining in regulation and the game went into overtime after Waldorf could not convert.
 
Campbellsville then scored on three possessions on second chance shots and would seal the win to improve to 10-1.
 
Whitney Ballinger had 22 points and 17 boards while Courtney Danis had 29 points and T.J. Thomas added 13 for the win.
 
Campbellsville, ranked 13th, faces 7th ranked St. Xavier on Saturday at 6 p.m. eastern time in Honolulu.
