Baseball Salvages Split with Huntington

Campbellsville, Kentucky - On a beautiful Wednesday afternoon, #20 Campbellsville snapped their five game losing streak with a night cap victory over visiting Huntington.  The Tigers dropped game one by a final of 3-2, and it was their fourth loss in a row by one run.  The bats finally came alive in game two, winning the night cap 8-2.

Game one featured two time draft pick Chris Lemay on the mound for the Tigers.  Lemay was solid in his three innings of work, except for one breaking ball that was lifted over the right field wall, staking Huntington to an early 2-0 lead.  In relief, sophomore Eric Staples threw four shutout innings nearly keeping the Tigers alive for a late inning comeback.
In the sixth inning, the Tigers finally got on the board thanks to some timely hitting and defensive blunders by Huntington.  All-conference sophomore Chris Curley led off the inning with single, which was followed by a Brandon Hunter walk.  After moving up on a wild pitch, Lee Darracott laced a single to left, scoring Curley.  Nate Quesenberry followed with some damage of his own, lifting a sac fly scoring hunter.
Down 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh, the Tigers threatened, but to no avail.  Chris Curley led the charge on offense going 2 for 4 with a run scored.
Game two of the table was hopefully a sign of the tables turning as Tiger bats came alive, scoring a season high eight runs.  Brian Edelen had another quality start for the Tigers, pitching four innings, not yeilding a single earned run.  With the game tied at one in the fifth, the Tigers pulled away for good after a massive two out rally.  With one out, Hector Urbaneja lined a single to left.  Rob Elliott followed with a double in the right center gap, giving the Tigers runners at second and third.  Chris Curley delivered with a sacrafice fly to center, scoring Urbaneja.  With two outs in the inning, junior transfer Brandon Hunter hit a towering three run homerun to left and the Tigers would never look back.
Chris Curley relieved Edelen, picking up his first win of the season.  In three innings of work, Curley gave up three hits and one run, while striking out three and walking none.  Edelen and Curley combined for seven strikeouts, while not walking a single hitter.  Rob Elliott, Chris Curley, Tyler Morris, and Lee Darracott all had multi-hit games.
The #20 Tigers will start conference this Friday at home against rival Lindsey Wilson College.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 P.M.
