Wilmore, Kentucky - After wrapping up the conference schedule, the Tigers started their three game tune up for the post season. They started off just the way they wanted as they opened up with a 14-3 victory against Asbury College. With the win, the Tigers have now won six of their last nine.
Â
The day didn't start the way the Tigers would have wanted. Asbury pitcher William Blackburn shut down the Tigers for the first four innings. The crafty left hander held the Tigers to just two baserunners through the first four and Asbury jumped out to a comfortable 2-0 lead.Â
Â
After Asbury decided to go to their bullpen, Tiger bats decided to come alive.Â
Chris Curley led the charge in the sixth with two RBI double. In the seventh,
Temple Macdonald and
Logan Smith did damage of their own with a double a piece. The Tigers put the nail in the coffin in the ninth as a combination of hits and walks led to a seven run inning. The Tigers coasted to the 14-3 victory.
Â
Chris Lemay made the start for the Tigers and delivered a solid outing, going 6.1 innings for the win. Lemay fanned five Eagle hitters in the effort.Â
Chris Curley (3 for 4, 2B, 3 RBI, 3 R) and
Temple Macdonald (3 for 6, 2B, 2 RBI) led the charge offensively for the Tigers.Â
Â
The Tigers will head north tomorrow to play Spalding University in another mid week tune up. Staff ace Jeff Duda (5-2, 1.79 ERA) will make the start at Derby City Stadium in Louisville. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
