Georgetown, KY - The Campbellsville University Lady Tigers have defeated the University of the Cumberlands 6-3 in the quarterfinals of the Mid-South Conference Softball Tournament being played in Georgetown.
The Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one inning, but the Cumberlands would cut the lead to 3-2 after scoring twice in their half of the fourth. The Patriots would add another run in the fifth to knot the game at three, but Campbellsville would score three runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth to take the victory.
Cambpellsville was led by
Laura Slack's (Benton, KY) 3 for 3 effort, while Erica Creek (Smiths Grove, KY) finished 2-3 with 2 RBI's. Tiffany Meadors (Lancaster, KY), Brittany Turner (London, KY), Kara Jesse (Bagdad, KY) and Samantha Kooch (Powell, TN) each collected two hits for the Patriots.
Cassidy Kroeker went the distance for the Tigers to pick up the win. Whitney Piar, who finished with eight strikeouts, was tagged with the loss. The Cumberlands will now have to face Lindsey Wilson College tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. while Campbellsville moves on to face Georgetown College at 2:00 p.m.
