Henderson, TN - The Campbellsville Lady Tigers left four baserunners stranded in a 3-1 setback to the hands of the Lady Lions of Freed-Hardeman University today in the NAIA Region XI Softball Tournament.
Freed-Hardeman struck first in the bottom of the first to lead 1-0 and behind strong defense and pitching from
Cassidy Kroeker the Lady Tigers would stay just one run back until the top of the fifth inning when
Krystle Johnson would reach first base on a single. Coach
Shannon Wathen then put
Kelly Embree into the game as a pinch runner for Johnson. Following a strikeout by
Allison Horton,
Katie Daniel grounded out but advanced Embree into scoring position at second base.
Jessica Gunby then hit a long shot to center field which scored Embree, but Gunby was tagged out stretching for third base. The lone run would be all of the scoring for the Lady Tigers.
Freed-Hardeman would tack on two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to get the win. Campbellsville now plays at 2:00 p.m. eastern time on Thursday in the loser's bracket against Georgetown College.
