Campbellsville University attacked early and often Thursday night, firing off shot after shot in the first 10 minutes of play at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville. After sitting even, 1-1 at halftime,
Katie Henderson tapped in the game winner for Campbellsville in the 70th minute, giving CU the 2-1 victory.
The shot was the only one by Henderson in the game.
Cassie Yannelli put the Lady Tigers on the board in the 25th minute off an assist by
Laura Swencki. Trevecca's Heather Halstead evened the score in the 33rd minute to send the game into halftime tied, 1-1.
Yannelli led CU with three shots on goal and seven total shots, while Swencki and
Megan Campbell each had two shots on goal.
Erin Grimsley started in goal for CU, collecting three saves and allowing one goal. She faced only one shot on goal in the second half, as the Lady Tigers held Trevecca to eight total shots. CU placed eight of its 14 shots on goal. Trevecca keeper Amy Maslyn had six saves.
Campbellsville (11-5-1, 3-3 MSC) will close out the regular season Monday, Nov. 2 at Georgetown College in a Mid-South Conference game beginning at 6 p.m.
