Swencki hat trick leads Lady Tigers

Laura Swencki scored three goals in the first half to lead Campbellsville University to a 5-1 women's soccer victory at Lambuth University on Sunday.

Swencki's goals gave the Lady Tigers a 3-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Cassie Yannelli scored a goal and assisted Kelsey Mandel on a goal to give CU a 5-0 lead. Lambuth's Amy Tulliam put the Eagles on the board in the final minutes of play to avoid a shutout. Yannelli and Mandel each assisted a goal in the first half.

CU goalkeeper Sarah Akers picked up the win in goal, stopping 18 shots by Lambuth.

The win completed a 2-0 weekend in West Tennessee after Campbellsville defeated Freed-Hardeman on Friday.

"We played really well. With Freed, we dominated most of the match. Lambuth was solid, but we were finishing, which is something we struggled with in other games," CU head coach Thom Jones said.

Campbellsville (7-3-1) hosts the University of Rio Grande for a Mid-South Conference game Friday at 4 p.m.
