Campbellsville, Kentucky
Â
Despite a large amount of rain Wednesday night, the Campbellsville University Baseball team was able to get their Thursday matchup in against visiting St. Catherine College. Good thing the field held up too, because the Tigers came out and dominated the visiting Patriots en route to their fourth consecutive win.
Â
For the third straight game, the Tigers scored a first inning run. They did thanks in part to a Tyler Derby (San Jose, California) walk, which was followed by Chris Curley's (Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky) line drive double to right field. The one run was good for the time being, and Curley had helped himself out seeing that he was making his first start of the season on the mound. He retired the first six batters he faced.Â
Campbellsville continued to pour on the runs in the second inning, this time, they put up four. A combination of four hits and three walks led to the big inning.
On the day, six of the nine Tiger starters tallied multiple hits, and they were once again lead by the bat of Jimmy Voelker (Placerville, California) with a 3 for 5 day, including a double off the right field wall. Nathan Quesenberry (Elizabethtown, Kentucky) was 3 for 5 as well. Two hit contributors included Zac Townsend (Freemont, California), Colin Bryan (San Jose, California), and Brian Chase (San Jose, California).Â
Marc Wilson (Alberta, Canada) picked up his second win of the season in relief tossing three solid innings. Ian Pick (Santa Clara, California) threw a scoreless ninth to lock the win.
