Campbellsville, Kentucky
Â
After taking out the University of the Cumberlands yesterday in a conference game, the Tigers hosted Trevecca Nazarene in a midweek non-conference game at home today. Still ranked #8 in the nation, Campbellsville played their sixth top 25 opponent of the season and came away with a split. They dropped the first game by a final of 3-1, but went on to win game two by a score of 7-5.
Â
Jake Kutsukos started on the mound for the Tigers in game one and yielded 3 earned runs in 3.1 innings of work.Â
Bryan Fuller tossed 3.2 scoreless innings in relief. Kutsukos got the loss, moving to 2-1 on the year. Offensively, the Tigers struggled all game, scoring just the one run on 4 hits.Â
Nick Smith was the top offensive performer, going 1 for 2, while having the team's lone RBI.
Â
The Tigers were able to grab the win in game two thanks largely in part to an early offensive explosion. Campbellsville grabbed two runs in the top of the first, and then grabbed five more in the second to go up 7-0.Â
Logan Smith capped the inning off with a two run homer. It was Smith's second homer in the last week.Â
Â
Spencer Frantz picked up the win in a staunch relief performance after having to throw an inning yesterday. Frantz pitched 3.1 innings, allowing just one hit and one run. Frants moved to 2-2 on the year.Â
Chris Curley led the offensive charge going 2 for 3.Â
Brian Chase also had two hits of his own.
Â
With the win the Tigers move to 24-5 on the season and are still 10-1 in MSC play. The Tigers will be back at it tomorrow afternoon as they will host 2004 National Champions Cumberland University. Game time is slated for 3:00 P.M.Â
Alex Tolmachoff (4-0) will be on the mound for the Tigers.
