Only one team had beat the #10 Campbellsville Tigers in conference play, and that team was Lindsey Wilson College in what was a freak game. In the last contest between the teams, the game was played in awful weather conditions, and the Tigers fell 14-11 to the Raiders. Today was a different story though, as Campbellsville took care of business, beating Lindsey Wilson by a final of 11-0. The game only lasted an hour and ten minutes.
Â
The Tigers wasted no time to get the momentum on their side. After
Colin Bryan walked on four pitches,
Chris Curley blasted his league leading 14th homerun of the season to put the Tigers up 2-0.Â
Brian Chase followed with a double off the right center wall, and
Jimmy Voelker doubled down the left field line.Â
Alex Ponich made it three doubles in a row, giving the Tigers the 4 run first inning.
Â
This run support was far more than enough for
Marc Wilson who moved to 7-0 on the season. Wilson tossed the complete game shutout, and used just 58 pitches to do so. The crafty lefthander from Alberta, Canada now leads the MSC in wins and ERA.
Â
The Tigers continued their offensive show in the third. After the Lindsey Wilson pitcher walked the bases loaded in the third with two outs,
Zach Townsend came to the plate. Townsend didn't wait around as he took the 0-0 fastball and cranked it over the left center field wall for the grand slam. It was Townsend's second homer against Lindsey this season.
Â
The Tigers would put the finishing touches on the Raiders in the fourth as
Brian Chase hit a no doubter homerun to left. It was Chase's 14th of the season, tying him with teammate
Chris Curley for the league lead.
Â
The Tigers are now 30-7 overall, and are 16-1 in conference play. They will look to carry their momentum into Saturday as they will travel to Louisville to play Spalding University in non-conference action. Campbellsville is 1-0 against Spalding this year.
