Baseball Moves to #8 in the National Polls After Big Win Against Cumberlands

Georgetown, Kentucky

After an impressive opening round win in the MSC Tournament Championship, the Campbellsville University Baseball team continued their impressive play.  This time, they knocked off 2008 regular season champion University of the Cumberlands.  The Tigers outlasted the Patriots in a true slugfest, taking the contest 19-12.  With the win, Campbellsville will host the MSC championship game this Friday for the fifth year in a row.

The Tigers used a large ammount of hitting to take care of the Cumberlands.  Campbellsville tallied up 24 hits on the day and were led by Jimmy Voelker, who was 5 for 6 on the day.  Chris Curley hit a grandslam with the score tied 10-10 in the seventh to break the game open.  It was Curley's 16th round tripper of the year.  Colin Bryan also belted a homerun, it was his fourth of the season.

Nathan Quesenberry, Brian Chase, Alex Ponich, and Zach Townsend also racked up multi hit games.  On the mound, Bryan Fuller was the winning pitcher, moving to 5-1 on the season.  The #8 Tigers will host the MSC Tournament Championship game at Tiger Stadium this Friday.  First pitch is slated for 1:00 P.M. against Georgetown College.
