Milligan College had nine more shots on goal than Campbellsville and made them count as the Lady Buffs defeated the Lady Tigers 4-1 on Saturday in Elizabethton, Tenn.
Laura Swencki, a senior from Lebanon, Ky. scored CU's only goal - the first of the game - on an assist from Megan Campbell, a sophomore from Central City, Ky., in the game's third minute.
But from there on out CU was outscored 4-0.
"Only one week of practice and no scrimmages really hurt us in this game," said coach Thom Jones. "In the second half the girls calmed down and played really well."
Milligan is ranked second in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, according to the school's web site.
Jones started six freshmen. "They were not ready for how fast the game is compared to high school," Jones said. "But in the second half we calmed down and played really well."
Campbellsville returns to action Sept. 4 and 5 when they travel to Asbury, Ky. and play Bluefield and Bryan colleges.
