Shannon Cahill collected 12 kills and 17 digs to help No. 25 Campbellsville University improved to 4-1 Tuesday with a 3-2 volleyball victory at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tenn.
Cahill led the Lady Tigers' attack in the first set, leading Campbellsville to a 25-15 victory, but the Trojans rallied to win the second set, 25-14. CU bounced back with another 25-15 win in the third set before falling the Trojans forced a fifth set with a 25-20 win. Campbellsville sealed the win with a 15-7 fifth-set victory.
Joining Cahill at the top of the offensive attack for the Lady Tigers was
Renee Netherton, who also had 12 kills.
Caroline Martin collected 40 set assists.
Caitlin Dresing led the defense with 20 digs, while Whitney Hayes contributed with 15 and Jovana Koprivica was one shy of double figures with nine.
Campbellsville started the season in Canton, Ohio over the weekend, going 3-1 at the Malone College Tournament. CU beat Malone in five sets and was swept by Goshen on the first day, but posted a pair of 3-0 wins Aug. 29 against Indiana University Northwest and Bluefield College.
Campbellsville (4-1) travels to Indiana University Southeast on Thursday for a 7 p.m. (EST) match.
