Campbellsville University swimmers dipped in the pool competitively on Saturday for the first time this season, defeating Berea and Bethel and losing to Union College.
The Tigers, swimming in Barbourville, Ky, were led by the first-place performance of freshman
Kathleen Ewing. Ewing, from Madisonville, Ky., swan a 1:07.22 to win the 100-yard butterfly, CU's only first place finish.
The swimmers beat Berea 54-23, Bethel 54-9 and lost to Union 61-24. It was the head coaching debut for Steve Doss who has taken over the team from Lindsay Hines.
But the team and some individuals did collar some runner-up finishes. Here's a rundown of the meet:

200-Yard IM: Lee, third, 2:39.99.
100-Yard Butterfly: Ewing, first, 1:07.22;
Ellen Hittson, third, 1:16.13.
100-Yard Freestyle: Cato, second, 59.41; Sattler, fifth, 1:04.44.
100-Yard Backstroke: Reiss, third, 1:07.15.
100-Yard Breaststroke: Pickett, second, 1:17.96.
200-Yard Freestyle Relay: Reiss, Lee, Pickett and Cato, second, 1:51.45; Sattler, Wohlschlegel, Hittson and Ewing, third, 2:00.74.
