ELKHART, Ind. – As swim teams arrive at the Elkhart Health & Aquatics Center for the NAIA National Championships this week, all eyes are on
Marlien Crewe-Brown to make waves for Campbellsville University on the national stage.
The standout breaststroker enters the championship meet riding a surge of momentum following a dominant 2025-26 campaign. Crewe-Brown methodically refined her stroke throughout the regular season, posting back-to-back sweeps of the breaststroke disciplines at the Colonel Classic and the Highway 55 Last Chance Invitational. She peaked at exactly the right time during the Mid-South Conference Championships in Danville, capturing conference gold in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:22.04 and claiming fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.23.
This week's appearance at the NAIA National Championships is a familiar environment for Crewe-Brown. During the 2024-25 season, she qualified for the national meet, finishing 23rd overall in the 100-yard breaststroke and 27th in the 200-yard breaststroke. Last season's campaign firmly established her as a cornerstone of the Tigers' program, as she brought home an MSC bronze medal in the 200-yard breaststroke and etched her name multiple times in the Campbellsville record books.
During her time with the Tigers, Crewe-Brown currently holds the school standards in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.23), 100-meter breaststroke (1:15.09), 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.04), 200-meter breaststroke (2:53.36), and 200-meter individual medley (2:38.93). Furthermore, her versatility has been on full display as a vital leg on the school-record-setting 200-yard, 200-meter, and 400-meter medley relay teams.
Crewe-Brown's collegiate career began with a splash in 2023-24, when she finished as the runner-up in her debut in the 200-yard breaststroke and captured her first career victory against Asbury University in the same event. She wasted no time rewriting the boards as a freshman, setting new program marks in both the 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke, as well as the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke.
Beyond the pool, Crewe-Brown exemplifies the student-athlete ideal. She is a recognized MSC Champion of Character and has earned both Academic All-Conference and NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors.
Crewe-Brown is poised to translate her record-breaking conference success into an All-American caliber performance against the nation's best.
