Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE. KY. - The old adage "It ain't over till it's over"
never rang more true than for the Campbellsville women's soccer team.
King College's Devon Shanklin snuck in a goal with 1.6 seconds left in
the second overtime to claim the NCCAA Mid-East Region crown, 1-0.
The entire game couldn't have been more even. Shots on goal were eight each and both keepers had seven saves.
Campbellsville had two good opportunities in the first 10-minute overtime when
Audra Hockenberger's shot glanced off the top bar of the goal. A second shot by
Jessica Ralph was saved by King's Abbey Kitts.
Cassie Yannelli led the team with five shots.
Ashley Corum had three and
Kelsey Mandel,
Megan Campbell and Hockenberger had two each.
The win left King with a 7-12 record and Campbellsville at 13-9-0. It was Campbellsville's fifth 1-0 loss in a 21-game season.
The Lady Tigers out-shot King 14-9 in regulation and held a 16-10 edge in shots at the end of 100 minutes of play. But King got the only two shots on goal in the second overtime, the second one proving to be the winner.
