CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. --
Caroline Martin capped off her second and final season as a Campbellsville University Lady Tiger by being named an NCCAA All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Martin, who was recognized as an Division I Women's Volleyball All-American by the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) following the national championship match Dec. 4, was later announced for the same honor by the AVCA.
Through the year, the senior setter from Curitaba, Brazil, recorded 50-plus assists in five matches with a career-high 66 set assists in a regular season win over Indiana Wesleyan University. She collected 36 double-doubles for assists and digs.
She finished the season with 1,628 assists and 592 digs. Both stats rank among the Top 10 in their category for a single season in Campbellsville's record book. She also ranks in the Top 10 for her career, as she is the third player to reach more than 3,000 assists (3,011) and is the seventh to reach 1,000 digs (1,009). She is the first CU player to ever reach both marks in a career.
Prior to the NCCAA National Tournament, Martin was named the NCCAA Mid-East Region Player of the Year.
Martin and teammate
Shannon Cahill were named to the All-Tournament team at the national tournament. Cahill, who was named an NCCAA Scholar-Athlete, was named a second team All-American following the NCCAA Tournament, but the AVCA does not recognize a second team.
