Campbellsville's softball team overcame seven errors in a two-game home
stand against Lindsey Wilson on Wednesday and squeaked out 5-4 and 4-3
wins. That gives the Tigers a 13-11 overall record and 3-1 in the
conference.
In game one, CU went ahead 2-1 in the third and 3-1 with a run in the
fourth before Lindsey scored a solo run in the fifth and two in the
seventh to take control of the game 4-3.
But the Tigers used a couple of singles by
Jordan Cornett and
Kacie Vincent, wrapped around a walk to
Emma Napier, to tie the score on
Bailey Dillender's ground out in the seventh. Campbellsville slipped by the Blue Raiders in the bottom of the eighth when
Morgan Bullock and
Allison Horton walked with no outs and advanced on a wild pitch. Bullock scored the winning run when
Katie Daniel hit into a fielder's choice.
Jennifer England had two RBI and Cornett one.
Allison Horton went the distance, allowing only four hits and a walk while striking out three.
In game two, Campbellsville's four-run outburst in the fifth proved to be the deciding factor. Lindsey led 3-0 until that point.
In the fifth, England and
Nicole Bohanon hit successive doubles and a single by Bullock scored them both. Bullock later scored when Horton hit a ball that was misplayed. Napier's single plated the winning run.
England had a single to go with her double and Napier an addition single as well.
The Tigers travel to Pikeville on Saturday for a double-header and host St. Catharine on the 23rd.
