Box Score 2 Campbellsville University extended its Mid-South Conference baseball win streak to four games Friday, as the Tigers swept Pikeville College on the road, 12-1 and 5-1. Campbellsville scored its 17 runs off 14 hits and 17 walks in the two games combined.
Brian Chase was perfect at the plate for CU, hitting 3-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored in the first game and picking up two walks and an RBI in the second game.
The Tigers exploded for a seven-run second inning in the first game and added two runs in the first and third to take an 11-0 lead after three innings. Pikeville's Ryan Bartolon pushed across the Bears' only run in the fourth to score Matt Dotson. CU added one more in the fifth before the game was called do the mercy rule.
Eight CU players scored in the game, while
Richie Rowland had a home run and drove in four to go along with Chase's four RBIs.
Alex Ponich,
Logan Smith and
Luke Gadow each had an RBI in the win.
Ian Pick moved to 4-0 on the year, as he picked up the five-inning victory in game one, allowing one earned run off three hits and a walk. He had three strikeouts.
Game two went to
Jared Lunardi (2-1), who threw a complete game and allowed one earned run off six hits and three walks. He struck out six.
Ponich, Chase, Rowland, Gadow and
Zac Townsend each drove in runs for CU in the second game, as the Tigers scattered their scoring around. CU posted one run in first, second and sixth innings, while putting up a two-spot in the third.
Campbellsville (11-10, 4-1 MSC) will play two more games at Pikeville on Saturday, beginning at noon.
