Box Score For the second time in three years, Campbellsville University men's soccer is unbeaten after its first three games. The Tigers picked up another 3-1 victory in Indiana on Saturday, as Campbellsville downed the University of St. Francis, 3-1, in the NAIA Showcase.Â
The Tigers netted three goals for the third consecutive game and leading scorer
Jamie Allen got the offense going early with a goal assisted by
Casey Clarke. Allen netted his fifth goal of the season in the 17th minute to give the Tigers a 1-0 halftime lead.
Clarke scored the first of two Tiger goals in the opening 15 minutes of the second half, with a penalty kick in the 55th minute. Allen added a sixth goal of the season moments later off an assist from
Ramiro Sanchez.
"Casey Clark had a huge performance today. He does all the little things required to win," Preston said of the London, England native.
But as a team, Preston was not happy with the way the win came about.
"We looked very tired today and didn't play well," Preston said. "We still have a long way to go this year, but we played two very good teams up here and to be undefeated is great. The guys have shown great character. This group likes to play together, and if they continue to work hard, improve and stay humble, we will have a great year."
James Clements picked up his second win in goal, despite allowing a goal in the 80th minute to USF's Matt Bessessen.
Campbellsville (3-0) returns home to Finley Stadium on Wednesday, Sept. 8 for an 8 p.m. start with Berea University.
