Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Campbellsville University took a 2-0 lead on the road Tuesday night at Trevecca Nazarene, but the heavy shooting Trojans did not fold, rallying for a 3-2 overtime win.
It took only two shots for Campbellsville to find the net as redshirt freshman Toria Aslip put the Lady Tigers on the board in the eighth minute with her first career goal off an assist from
Megan Campbell.
Cassie Yannelli strengthened CU's lead, 2-0, in the 30
th minute with a solo goal from the outside corner of the box.
The Trojans responded with aggressive shooting, having a shot saved by CU goalkeeper
Brandie Hagerman in the 34
th minute and having two shots by Lindsey Robinson blocked by
Shelby Pfeiffer and Rebeka Carl in the 36
th minute. TNU found the back of the net in the 39
th minute with a goal by Alex Hammond, assisted by Kayla Vanes. It was the Trojans' 15
th shot of the half but only third on goal. Hagerman stopped two more shots on goal before the end of the period to preserve a 2-1 Campbellsville lead at halftime.
Six minutes into the second half, Trevecca neutralized the game with a goal by Justine Forth. Robinson had the assist. The Trojans' golden goal came in the 93
rd minute of play by Brooke Gann. It was the only shot of overtime.
Campbellsville had 15 shots, five on goal in the loss, while Trevecca had 25 shots in the game, 10 on goal. Hagerman finished the night with seven saves.
Campbellsville (12-6) will begin postseason play Saturday, Nov. 5 as it hosts St. Catharine College at 7 p.m. ET in Finley Stadium for the first round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament. The winner of the game will advance to the MSC semifinals in Rio Grande, Ohio, Nov. 9-10.
