Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A 1-0 lead wasn't enough Friday evening in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Mid-East Region Tournament. Campbellsville University entered halftime up a goal, but fell short in a penalty kick shootout to Asbury University, 5-4, in the Mid-East Region semifinals at Trevecca Nazarene University.
Cassie Yannelli put the Lady Tigers on the board in the 20th minute Friday night with an assist from
Megan Campbell. Despite Campbellsville posting seven shots in the first half, the Lady Tigers were unable to gain any insurance entering halftime.
Asbury pulled even with nine minutes left to play on a goal by Rebecca Batey to force the second overtime game of the night. Earlier in the day, Covenant College knocked off host team Trevecca, 2-1, in overtime.
Campbellsville managed two shots in overtime, one in each 10-minute period, but neither were on target. At the end of 110 minutes of play, the score remained tied, forcing a penalty kick shootout to determine Covenant's opponent for the Mid-East final Saturday.
Campbell missed the first PK of the shootout - the only missed shot in the series of five PKs.
Kait Rogers made the Lady Eagles' fifth and final shot to secure Asbury's advancement to the regional final. Other PKs made for Asbury, in order, were by Rebecca Batey, Kaitlyn Hooper, Jessica Batey and Samantha Chanda.
Toria Alsip took CU's second PK, beginning a string of four PKs made by the Lady Tigers.

Brandie Hagerman had only one save in the loss, while Asbury's Maegan Rogers had one save, which came in the first half.
Asbury advances to face Covenent in the regional final Saturday at 5 p.m. EDT, while the Lady Tigers (13-7) will wait to see if it receives an at-large bid to the NCCAA National Tournament in Kissimmee, Fla. The tournament field of teams will be announced Sunday, Nov. 20.
