DANVILLE, Ky. - Campbellsville took a "watered-down" team to Centre on Saturday with only five Lady Tigers seeing pool time. But that doesn't mean their coach,
Casey Smith, didn't see some bright spots.
"I thought we did really good," said Smith, "The experience will make us work harder. I'm pleased with the results."
What Smith saw was improvement in
Kathleen Ewing's 100 butterfly,
Katie Kelien's 100 breaststroke and
Ellen Hittson's knocked two seconds off her best in the 100 backstroke. Comparisons for relays teams were hard to make, said the coach, because she used a different set of swimmers for Saturday's relay event.
However, that said, the 400-yard freestyle relay took first place, besting Franklin College by 21 seconds. And
Brooke Cato had the fastest time in the 100-yard freestyle.
Full team results include:
400-Yard Medley Relay -
Ellen Hittson,
Carrie Wohlschlegel, Ewing and Cato, fourth, 4:54.40.
50-Yard Freestyle - Kelien, fourth, :35.40. Cato and Wohlschlegel swam :27.87 and :29.09, respectively, but were not counted in team scoring. Cato's time would have been good for second and Wohlschlegel's would have spotted her in fourth.
100-Yard Butterfly - Ewing, fourth, 1:08.77.
100-Yard Freestyle - Cato, first, 1:00.05; Wohlschlegel, fourth, 1:03.91.
100-Yard Backstroke - Hittson, fifth, 1:11.94.
100-Yard Breaststroke - Kelien, third, 1:37.95.
400-Yard Freestyle Relay - Wohlschlegel, Hittson, Ewing and Cato, first, 4:15.79.
