CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The road is likely to get rougher, but Campbellsville smoothed out a few bumps en route to a 96-40 win over Tennessee Temple, the Lady Tigers' home- and season-opener.



Mackenzie Lee and Courtney Clifton sparked a first-half run that led to a 53-24 advantage at intermission. The Lady Tigers scored the first 14 points of the game, six by Lee and four by Megan Isaacs. From there CU (1-0, 0-0) threw a variety of lineups at the Lady Crusaders (0-2) from Chattanooga, Tenn.

"I thought defensively we played well and with a lot of energy," said Coach Ginger Colvin. "Offensively I think we showed a little rust."

Tennessee temple was forced into 31 turnovers that, according to the stats, produced 21 points.

Only one starter logged 20 minutes, Courtney Clifton. Nobody played less than seven and all but one player scored.

"We turn around and play again in less that 24 hours," said Colvin. "We really wanted to divvy up the minutes. A lot of times when you do that, you get sloppy. But I thought we were sharp for our first game."

Campbellsville got 53 of their 96 in the paint with reserves Chelsea Craig (10) and Diazah Kimberland (12) dropping in 22 from in close. Five players reached double figures, led by the 13-point efforts of Lee and Clifton. Katie Allen had 10 points.

"We passed the ball well and found open people," said Colvin.

Those passes led to 20 assists, headed by the five that Lee dished out in her 18 minutes of play.

CU shot 50 percent for the game, but were only 3 of 17 from 3. From the free throw line the Lady Tigers connected on 21 of 33, 64 percent.
