Lady Tigers advance in MSC Women's Soccer Tournament

Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Campbellsville University notched another home shutout Saturday night, 3-0 over St. Catharine College, to advance past the quartefinals in the Mid-South Conference Women's Soccer Tournament and tie its program record for most wins in a single-season (13).

For the second time this week, redshirt-freshman Toria Alsip scored in the eighth minute of play to put Campbellsville on the board. The 1-0 lead would be the only margin of distance until the 77th minute when Jessica Ralph added an insurance goal. Ralph later scored again in the 83rd minute. All three goals were assisted by Cassie Yannelli.

Brandie Hagerman recorded the shutout for CU with two saves. Campbellsville out-shot SCC, 21-5 in the win, including 10 shots on goal.

"It was a good win to get us back on track after losing two in a row. It was a little frustrating to dominate the game and only be up 1-0 with 15 minutes left, but the girls kept fighting to make it 3-0," CU head coach Thom Jones said. "Now we are preparing for Georgetown and hopefully we'll make history on Wednesday."

The Lady Tigers (13-6) will face Georgetown at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the MSC semifinal at the University of Rio Grande in Ohio. A win will send CU to the MSC championship game for only the second time in program history.
